2022 Volvo XC90: The One That Set the Tone

Volvo has been growing tremendously in recent years. The company has a diverse range of vehicles with spectacular designs. Electrification is accelerating within the company, so there are increasingly green and interesting choices for customers.

The case of the Volvo XC90 is fascinating, because it’s where the big shift began in 2016. It’s the one that took the plunge at Volvo, and the gamble was won. Today, this model is fully mature and offers more than ever.

Volvo West Island, your Volvo dealership and garage near Terrebonne, Saint-Eustache, Sainte-Thérèse and Boisbriand, presents you the 2022 Volvo XC90 a little closer to see all it offers. Find your next Volvo new vehicle or Volvo used car in West Island.

    The Design

There are plenty of good-looking SUVs in the class where the XC90 operates. However, none of them make as strong a presence as the Volvo representative. The brand’s signature boxy styling has been preserved here in a dress that exudes elegance. At the rear, the positioning of the lights is also in line with the tradition within the family, while offering something unique across the industry. At the front, the headlights have the typical signature Thor’s hammer shape that you’d expect from Volvo.

    T5, T6 and T8

Before looking at how rich the offering is with the 2022 Volvo XC90, it is important to know the nomenclature that can be found with different trim levels. Basically, we’re talking about the alphanumeric names T5, T6 and T8, which refer to the mechanics used under the hood.

A T5 version benefits from the brand’s 2-litre turbo 4-cylinder engine. This engine is everywhere in the range, but it is tuned differently in each case. In T5 configuration, it offers 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

With a T6 model, the engine not only gets a turbocharger, but also a supercharger, which increases the capacity to 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Finally, when we talk about a T8 model, we are referring to the plug-in hybrid version of the XC90. The T6 engine is joined by an electric motor that boosts power. It’s currently at 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque, while the 11.6 kWh battery allows for about 30 kilometres of electric freedom. The good news is that Volvo recently announced that the battery capacity will be increased to 18.8 kWh, which will increase the range by 20 to 25 km. The power will be catapulted to 455 horsepower. These improvements are expected in the course of 2022.

    The Variants

Let’s see now for the trim levels. The gasoline model comes in three trim levels: Momentum, Inscription and R-Design. The first one can be fitted with T5 or T6 engines. With the other two, it is the T6 that is delivered. As for the XC90 R-Design, it offers a sportier style, notably marked by a grille with black accents. In fact, black is more dominant with this version.

Different option packages are available with each variant, to enhance their level of equipment, depending on your needs and preferences

When it comes to the plug-in hybrid model, there are two variants: Inscription and R-Design. Of course, it’s the T8 engine that’s at work. In the case of the Inscription version, two more trim levels are offered, all for even more customization. Two option packages can be added to the first, and three to the second.

It all sounds complex, but a simple visit to the Volvo Canada website’s configuration tool, or better yet, a visit to your local Volvo dealership on the West Island, will sort it all out.

And by the way, a test drive is a must. Because, beyond the incredible equipment offered to us with this vehicle, the real seduction is behind the wheel. Drive away with your new Volvo or a Volvo used car in Montreal.
