The New Volvo C40 Recharge, the First Exclusively Electric SUV

The New Volvo C40 Recharge, the First Exclusively Electric SUV

At Volvo, preserving the planet is a top priority and the company is taking bold steps to go green with an all-new 100% electric model: the new 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge.

With zero-emission electric driving power, more eco-friendly materials that don’t compromise on luxury, and a car that stands out from the pack, here’s a taste of what’s to come.

Twin, Electric Motors for Greater Performance

The all-electric C40 Recharge is equipped with a 78-kWh battery that powers two electric motors. When combined, the result is a hefty 404 horsepower with 486 lb-ft of torque, and zero carbon emissions! This little SUV also sprints from The New Volvo C40 Recharge, the first exclusively electric SUV.

The twin engines also give the car the option of standard all-wheel drive. So, you can drive this vehicle with confidence during cold seasons. What’s more, its 1,800 kg (3,968 lb) towing capacity is what makes it such a worthy compact SUV for travellers.

When it comes to range, the Volvo can drive up to 360 km on a single charge. And depending on the time available, recharging terminals can quickly boost the vehicle’s power.

    • An 8-hour charge with a level 2 charging station
    • A 68-minute charge with a 50-kW charging station
    • A 33-minute charge with a 150-kW charging station (10% to 80%)

You can therefore decide to fully charge it at night or during your work shift, or you can get a little boost of power on long journeys.

    Sustainable Materials

In the year 2022, the sustainability footprint of any vehicle can no longer simply be measured in terms of GHG emissions. The new Volvo puts an end to the era of associating animal leather with luxury: the Swedish automaker has found greener, more humane alternatives.

In fact, the Volvo vehicles of today are made of materials such as wood fibres, recycled plastic bottles and recycled corks. This recreates the usual luxury feel of Volvos, but with the added ingredient of eco-sustainability.

    A Top-of-the-Line Interior

Automotive journalist William Clavey describes the Volvo’s interior following his first test drive:

“As with recent Volvo products, quality of workmanship is on point, and everything is well laid out, easy to use and, above all, remarkably clean.”

Upon opening the doors, you’ll notice a new Fjord Blue colour on the upholstery and on the interior of the doors. Nighttime ambient lighting illuminates the cabin in this colour. And, while we’ re on the subject of cabin illumination, there’s a large panoramic roof that draws natural daylight into the cabin.

The front and rear passengers all have heated seats in cold weather. The driver’s seat features multiple power adjustments and memory positions, to name a few.

The infotainment system comes with a large Android tablet that includes:

    • Google Maps
    • Google Assistant
    • Google Play Store
    • Bluetooth connection

For added luxury, Volvo also includes a 13-speaker Harman Kardon audio system in the cabin.

An Exterior Design That Stands Out

Building on the same platform as the XC40 Recharge, the C40 draws a lot of inspiration from its predecessor. While it shares many of its features, the C40 moves away from the classic SUV shape with a coupe-like roofline, giving it a sportier look. It also comes with new 20-inch 5-spoke wheels that give it a distinctive look.

Some of the colour choices include the same Fjord Blue colour as the interior, a new colour inspired by Swedish nature. Also included is the popular trend of a contrasting black roof, as well as several black details.

Want to see it with your own eyes, get into its eco-friendly cabin and experience what clean green driving pleasure and acceleration are all about. Take it for a test drive at your local Volvo West Island Retailer and see for yourself. Try out the new 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge right off highway 40 and just minutes from Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and meet our team!
